More articlesWhat types of responses can players provide?

When using the advanced editor there are a number of different response types you can add.

Below is a description of the different response types available, along with the icon which appears in the hunt editor.

Text

This handles text responses from the player. You can enter multiple responses separated by a comma, and don't forget to keep it interesting by including emoji as well!

For example, if the question is What do you kick in soccer? you might set multiple text responses such as "ball, football, ⚽" in anticipation of a number of correct responses.

Photo

The player can submit a photo or image.

You should enter keywords describing what should be in the photo. Similarly to the text example above, you can enter multiple keywords separated by a comma.

If there's a particular photo you want them to submit, you can upload the photo in the editor and see a summary of the keywords the huntmaster will generate from the image. It is a good idea to include these words in the expected response so that the photo is most likely to be recognised.

Photo containing words

This is similar to a standard photo, however in this example you're expecting a particular set of text to appear in the image. This could be a street sign or business card perhaps.

Again, you can enter multiple keywords separated by a comma to help increase the chances of players getting the right answer.

Location

The player must submit their current location. To progress they must be within 100 metres of the location you specify.

Be mindful of fences and other access restrictions when setting a location response.

If it's likely your players might make a wrong turn and end up in an incorrect location, you might choose to add multiple location responses with a hint to get them back on track.

Timer

This response will be provided a set amount of time after the step starts.

You might want to use it to provide a hint, or maybe after a certain time they are forced to end the hunt and they lose.
